I'm not aware of any old version of Pro that cannot have its files opened in
the latest version or Pro....

Are you certain you have ProE files? Other CAD programs also used the .prt
extension, such as Anvil-5000.

Rev 18 was in 97, 19 in 98, 2000i in 99, 2000i2 in 2000 and then 2001.....




What version of what is now ProE was out in the late 1990s? What utility
or software can open those files today? I have access to ProE 2001 and
ProE Wildfire. Thanks.

    Cadkey uses *.prt extensions as well...it's an endless problem for us.

    Unigraphics uses .prt extension for parts, assemblies and drawings.

    If you open the file with a text editor (Notepad, VIM), ProE .prt files will start with a readable header. You can compare this with a known file header to confirm that the file is truly ProE, and not from some other CAD package.
