Skeleton Model Best Practice

Can anyone recommend some best practices as well links to proper skeleton setup?

We are trying to establish some system and subsystem skeletons, where the system skeleton will be used as locator skeleton and subsystem skeletons as interface skeleton. Is this a good practice or could you recommend otherwise?

We want to set up all the subsystems by way of subsystem skeletons; these skeleton, I picture, will contain all the interfaces to other subsystems.

The master skeleton then houses all the subsystem skeletons; by way of global coordinate.
