    I don't have a specific answer (which is why I didn't respond earlier),
    but have you tried the B&W or other schemes in the system colors dialog?

    I hate the new 'easy on the eyes' colors of WFx too. Having sketcher be
    various shades of yellow and surface edges be two similar shades of
    purple may ease eye strain, but it greatly increases brain strain as I
    have to really concentrate to tell what's going on. Decreases
    productivity too.

    I'm partially color blind too and I set my config.pro to use the "pre-wildfire" color scheme. I do MUCH better with a black background and "old" colors.
