SUMMARY: Strange happenings afoot...
A couple of users suggested changing the accuracy, which fixed the problem.
I don't understand why, though, originally my problem was on 1/2-inch holes,
but some of the much smaller holes, such as #1, worked fine.
Oh, well - thanks to all who've replied for your help!
