What does the dollar ($) symbol mean in configuration editor?

What does the dollar ($) symbol mean in configuration editor? I'm assuming it's shortening the address, but how would you view the entire address if this is the case.

    It means they are pointing to environment variables.  You can see all of these by opening a system window from a running Creo session and typing "set" (without the quotes) and then pressing ENTER.
