Webcast Q&A

Question from Jon:  With conversions, what is the PTC recommendation for model accuracy?

Answer:  Whatever the accuracy of the original CAD tool.  We all typically use .01mm Absolute accuracy for most geometry.

Question from Jon:  Does Accutrans convert drawings?

Answer:  It does not.  Lino will show that shortly with the Legacy Migration Extension.

Question from Jon:  Can you perform a point cloud analysis with a set deviation tolerance value?

Answer:  The TTi tool actually uses a point cloud comparison.  It is called their Mirror Model Comparitor.  Using PTC's Computer Aided Verification module, you could also do that natively in Creo.

Question from Robert:  Can this be used to take assemblies/parts from one Windchill/Creo System to another?

Answer:  There you would not be translating, you would be moving data.

Webcast Q&A

Question from Scott:  I don't see Catia V6 on the list of supported filetypes for Acc-u-Trans.  Can you confirm?  Or does V6 have to be converted to V5 before it can be considered?

Answer:  V6 is cloud based and not file based.  It is somewhat closed so we would need to look at other options.

Webcast Q&A

Question from Timothy:  What is the best method for importing Styled surfaces from Autodesk Alias into Creo so that the surfaces can be modified?

Answer:  Blends, lofts, etc. are difficult to reconstruct in an automated fashion.  If those need to be edited, you would use Import Date Doctor.
