Best way to share assembly of machine for factory implant

Hi,

We have more and more the need for automatic delivery of a STEP or STL file from a complete installation assembly and this for 3D implant attempts for our future customers.
As we do not want to pass all our engineering knowledge to the customer we like to work with a shrink-wrap generated at a certain precision level, so only the outer shell is given, enough for implant in a factory.
My question now is: Is it possible to configure the WVS service of Windchill so that a Cad worker generates shrink-wrap at a certain precision in STEP or STL format ?

Besides we have the AR story, but has anyone experiences with AR-assemblies that easily have +1000 models ?

Hi Bernard,

 

we have tried the automatic shrink wrap generation with a customer, but don't do it in the worker. It coul need a huge amount of time to simplify the model.

 

If you want to do it on the fly you can use tools like Model Processor or Mapkeys (partly) or stuff like that to load all drawings create the drawing output formats, create a step of the topmost assembly and zip all these. Also it could be interesting to put a username of the user that has created and send the zip package inside the zip file.

 

For AR / VR we simplify the model and map some textures on it. It's so much faster and you can also use other render engines (unity, ...). Also Keyshot would be a very good alternative to do these work for you and save it as web standard 3d output format to use it as AR/VR model on your smartphone.
