Starting Wildfire from JLink to an active workspace

I have a program that failed to connect to Wildfire after startup. The workspace path was to my normal path and when I shutdown, the PDMLink server and workspace were active. It should have prompted to login when it started up. Jlink error'd out when it tried to start and Wildfire got hung. I was able to convert it to connect after Wildfire starts up (an existing session) and then everything else works. So, I am sure that I can start Wildfire, register a new server and interact with that. Has anyone been able to interact with an existing workspace connection or cache location?
