Transitioning from LinkMaster to KepServerEX Advanced Tags

Hi, I currently use LinkMaster to map tags between my field devices and PLC. I want to get rid of LinkMaster and do the mapping in Kepware Server. I currently have Version 6 of KepServerEx. Do I need to update to V7 in order to use the advanced tag linked tags feature or is that available in the version I have now? Also, is there a way to just export my LinkMaster tags and import into Kepware or does it have to be a manual migration? Thanks 🙂

Hi,

Advanced Tags (including linked tags and tag calculations) are already available in KEPServerEX V6, so an upgrade to V7 is not strictly required just to use that functionality. V7 mainly adds additional enhancements and features, but the core Advanced Tags capability exists in the version currently being used.

Regarding migration from LinkMaster, there is unfortunately no direct export/import tool that converts LinkMaster mappings into KEPServerEX Advanced Tags. In most cases the migration is manual, where the existing mappings are recreated using Linked Tags, Calculated Tags, or Tag Groups in KEPServerEX.

A common approach during transition is to keep LinkMaster running temporarily while rebuilding the mappings in KEPServerEX Advanced Tags, verify the behavior, and then retire LinkMaster once the configuration is fully replicated. This helps avoid downtime and makes validation easier.

Thanks,
