Question

PE 3 - no outputs possible?

I'm new in this forum (I'm downloading PE3), and hear that there is no output possible from PE3 to any kind of CNC machine.

That means:

  1. there is not direct control over CNC machines, or
  2. there is no way to create any kind of file that I could send to a 3rd. party so he converts to his CNC machine and cut it for me? Some kind of standard file accepted by most CNC converters

That is true. CoCreate Modeling Personal Edition is distributed free to demonstrate to new users the power of Explicit Modeling.

It was never intended for commercial use.

The ability to store to standard formats such as STEP IGES and SAT have been removed.

The file format of Personal Edition is not compatable with CoCreate Modeling (the commercial version)

You can save to .stl.
Which you can then read by e.g. MiniMagics: http://www.materialise.com/MiniMagics
or convert to among others to MACH-3 using FreeMILL : http://www.cncportal.com/thankyoufree.htm

both above programs are free.
