STANDARDS/SETTING FILES TRANSFER FROM EMX100_M010 TO EMX100_M012

We are using EMX100_M010 currently, and added/updated some standards in our components library and updated setting files in config folder .Now we are planning to update to EMX100_M012. what is the procedure or safe way to update the files in new (EMX100_M012) folder. We don't want to loose the bug fixes.

Hello Abhinand,

 

the Best Practice is using the windows variable EMX_USER_CONFIG_PATH.

I usually set up this variable in my startup batch script. You can also add it directly to Windows Environment variables for all ypour designers.

1. This folder should at least contain the "configuration" folder

You can place this folder on a share server which is available for all your users. You can ensure that all users work with the same configuration. After a aoftware update the configuration will not be set back.

 

2. In case your are very advanced user and you change a lot inside of the standard components, you can also add the "components" folder to this path. NOTE: Be aware that changes and bugfixes that we do inside of the components folder will not be added to this custom components folder. You are responsible for the content of this folder then by yourself.

 

3. You can set up the EMX Option MATERIAL_PATH and LIBRARY_PATH also to subfolders inside of this folder.

You can the create your on Library of Components and Material files.
