Question

How to _type_ the the Base Currency symbol?

The "base currency" symbol ¤ can be inserted from the Insert unit dialog / button, after selecting All, and scrolling down two panes of units.

Is there a quicker way of typing the symbol directly from the keyboard?

I am not aware of a keyboard shortcut, but using just the keyboard alone, the following should do the job less cumbersume than clicking and scrolling:

Ctrl-u m o [TAB] [ENTER]

Ctrl-u opens the insert unit dialog, typing "mo" selects the dimension "money" TAB gives the units list the focus and selects the first one (which is Base Currency) and ENTER inserts it.

EDIT: Just found another way: Keep the Alt-key pressed and type 207 on the numeric keypad (numlock should be on). ALT-463 (or 1999 or 2255, all =207 mod 256) works regardless of numlock on or off).
