Issues While Recreating "Shaft Bearing Speed" Mathcad Worksheet

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to recreate a Mathcad worksheet from a PDF file titled Shaft Bearing Speed. I’m using the exact same commands from the PDF to write it in my own worksheet, but I’m running into multiple errors and mistakes that I can't seem to understand.

I’ve attached both the original PDF, my Mathcad worksheet, and error screenshots for reference. I’d really appreciate any help in figuring out where I might be going wrong.

Thanks in advance. Below are the screenshots of my errors...

PS: The excel component is in-active in my worksheet for god knows the reason & hence, I had to use an image there, but with a "Read Excel" command on top. I hope you don`t judge me on that...

Hey there @terryhendicott ,

I`m more than glad that you have cleared all the issues/errors, but can you please tell me what was wrong and where my mistakes were.

If you could please elaborate them one by one based on the screen shots I have added - I could literally learn from you and not make the same mistakes in the future....

- Srikar

PS: Also, I forgot to mention one more error I had in my sheet, PFA below...

Hi @SharmaKona-Adro

First, the error in your reference to "D" (and small "d") is that you added a subscript "i" which makes it a whole other variable.  You need to use "i" as an index using the open bracket key "[" so that the array "D" is accessed.  Notice the gray notations when you edit the formula:

Second error is that you are specifying units for the second element of "n_c".  Delete the "rpm" unit and it will display properly:

In the last graph, your dropdown list for small "d" does not actually output any values.  You can see this by typing "d=" right after to confirm it's contents.  Just add the output values in the second column when you edit the dropdown:

Hope these help.  Mathcad is very picky and does not give helpful error descriptions.  I make some elaborate calculation sheets and programs and I it takes me a while to work out all the bugs.
