Narrow Backfill Earth Pressure

Narrow backfill is a common practice in hard rock excavation.  Most common cases are construction of retaining walls with a short distance from rock face cut which is usually carried out vertically.

The formula used in calculations is partially derived using symbolic calculations. The formula is similar to that to compute pressure on varied pipes.
