Reading from an Excel File from the second tab in the Excel sheet, MP10

Hello,

 

I have attached the Excel and P10 sheet. I'd like to read data from the second tab of the Excel sheet. The P10 sheet can read from the first tab of the sheet, but not the second tab. I don't know why.  Also, I am interested in reading the values in several columns. Is it better to do one column at time, or there are other options? Stuart and Werner helped me with a similar question on 8/29/20225.

Hi Sam,

 

I was able to read the Bottom and Top Chord data without a problem.   As a starting point, I'd check which version of "Forces and Moments.xlsx" you have installed in your Mathcad worksheet directory (your original version of the workbook didn't have the second worksheet).

 

As a general principle, I'd suggest reading columns separately.  You could also try putting the column numbers into a vector and then writing a program/function to read those columns.

When I clicked on "Calculate" it worked. I didn't think I had to do that because the " Auto Calculation" is on. Is this a Prime issue?

I'm not sure, Sam.  If you had made changes to the Excel worksheet, then I don't think that Mathcad is aware of them, so won't update - unlike the situation if you'd used an Excel component (where I believe changes are reflected automatically). This is what Mathcad Prime 10 has to say on the matter.

 

Additional Information
When you open a worksheet, PTC Mathcad Prime does not recalculate results automatically even if Auto Calculation is enabled. You must click Calculate or press Ctrl+F5 to recalculate the worksheet and view the final results. The recalculation is important when you are dealing with legacy PTC Mathcad worksheets that you converted or with files that contain included worksheets.
