I upgraded from trial version to student version and the process completed successfully, with all functions unlocked. About a month later I opened Mathcad again (10.0.1.0) and all functions were locked. I tried to use the PTC option menu and then the get License button. The response was as follows:

4/22/2025 2:42:15 PM : The license request failed.
Requesting MathcadPrime ...
C:\ProgramData\PTC\Mathcad Prime\license\MathcadLicense.5.dat: (-9) Invalid host.
I don't know why all of a sudden the functions were all locked as if in Express mode.

Did anything on your PC change? You should be aware that your Prime license is tied to the (primary) MAC address of your internet connection. Did you get the license while connected via LAN to internet, and are you now only using Wi-Fi (or vice versa), or did you change LAN or Wi-Fi interface?

You wrote you have a (student) license. You should then be able to locate the license file and read it (don't edit, let alone save it with edits). Just read and check the MAC address for which the license applies, and check that that is the MAC address of your current internet connection.

Success!

The license file does contain a different MAC ID.  The mac ID in the license file does not seem to exist on my system or any connected devices.  Initially after I activated the software the license file worked for couple of weeks.  I don't understand how the wrong mac was picked up.   I will have to follow up with PTC and see if there is a way to rectify this issue.

Thank you for your help.
