Question

What is the latest version of PTC Mathcad?

I’m using PTC Mathcad 10.0.0.0 (as of May 2026).  Is this the latest version?   How can I determine if there’s an update?  Where do I check?  In the software?  Somewhere on this website?

Thanks

Hello DS_10024912,

Please refer to the article

Article - CS344202
End of distribution, end of purchase, no download of installation media for Mathcad up to release 15 and Mathcad Prime 1.0 to 6.0

  • Please note that Mathcad 15 and PTC Mathcad Prime 1.0–6.0 are no longer available for download after December 31, 2021.

  • PTC recommends downloading and using Mathcad Prime 12.0.0.0, which is the latest available release.

Link is bad.  I’m not using the old Mathcad.  I pay something like $800 per year for something called Mathcad Prime. I’m using version 10.  I’m asking if that’s the latest version and how to check this.   But it appears from your post there’s a version 12 that I never knew anything about.  I wonder why I don’t get any type of notification on updates.  Weird.

Hello DS_10024912,

PTC Mathcad Prime 10 is not the latest release. The latest available version is currently PTC Mathcad Prime 12.

You can verify the latest released versions using the Product Release Calendar:https://support.ptc.com/cs/release-calendar/index.html

If you would like to download Mathcad Prime 12, you can access it from the PTC eSupport Software Downloads page:https://support.ptc.com/appserver/auth/it/esd/index.jsp

Customers usually track new releases through the PTC Support portal or release calendar.

I’ll address just the “when do I know if there’s an update?” part, since that wasn’t addressed in this thread yet.

PTC Mathcad Prime today will not tell you in the software when there is an update. It’s not connected to the Internet like that, so there’s no direct call to PTC home that asks if there’s a new version, and then there isn’t a way to give an in-product way to tell the user and prompt a download. That’s something I’d like to see in the product (as do many other people), and product management is aware of the benefits of this.

Since there isn’t an in-product way, here are alternatives:

  1. In PTC Support, you can manage eSupport notifications: https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/subscriptions/subscriptions.jsp?p=tab_sftupdates Select Mathcad Prime for software updates / product release updates. You will get an email when there is a new release.
  2. Check the Product Calendar often. Mathcad Prime tends to release twice a year, one time in March or April or May, and one time in September/October-ish. https://support.ptc.com/cs/release-calendar/index.html
  3. Come to PTC Community often. We make announcement posts for new versions.
  4. Follow Mathcad on social media and YouTube.
  5. Subscribe to the Mathcad Minute newsletter. This is also a reoccurring (marketing) email with Mathcad news and tips beyond the release. It’s very nice.
  6. Marketing sends an announcement email if you get in our marketing database by filling out any other Mathcad-related form on ptc.com.
  7. We have a dedicated What’s New page: https://www.ptc.com/en/products/mathcad/whats-new
  8. The main Mathcad product page has a bolded section near the top of the page on what the latest version is: https://www.ptc.com/en/products/mathcad
