I know that the newest version of Creo Elements/Direct Modeling has the ability to search text in cad. Does this allow the creation of PDFs with searchable text?

Hi Tom,

 

AI MAXTools' AI MAX Export2D function  has had this capability since 2015. We do it by adding invisible text to the PDF file so that the appearance of the drawing is unchanged.

 

Here's a simple example of how you would use it with a current drawing loaded (it also supports batch mode for processing multiple files at once):
