Orbital ATK core business is to support the motors of various systems, which includes an assessments of the performance of the motors today and into the future. To facilitate these assessments information about the environmental exposure, is collected and analyzed to form performance predictions. The company has been developing a modular system which can capture this information from disparate technologies and integrate the information into usable data which is then processed to produce the performance predictions. As part of development of this system, different methods for collecting and transferring the data within the system have been investigated. This session summarized a proof-of-concept to investigate one such method that uses the ThingWorx IoT platform to collect, manage, and parse sensor data from remote assets. The presenter also shared the lessons learned developing an IoT system utilizing the ThingWorx platform on a real-world example from the rocket industry.
Wearables have had a sharp rise in popularity over the past few years. However, there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding how consumers are using them in their daily lives and if they are actually as beneficial as we believe. The main problem facing the widespread adoption of wearables is not that the technology isn’t advanced enough to make them useful; it’s that the products fail to provide enough value to make consumers continue to wear them once the novelty has worn off. However, integrating other aspects into the mix, such as new TV controls and personalized options, can help create more value for using wearables and increase more enriching TV experiences as well. In this session, the presenter discuss the future of wearable design and detail how wearables integrated with new TV technology can create more value for both consumers and companies alike. Plus, the presenter discuss the future of wearable design and detail how wearables integrated with new TV technology can

Data security is not a new problem, companies face significant challenges in traditional environments when trying to protect critical intellectual property and sensitive customer or employee information. IoT presents different challenges, unlike the traditional enterprise, information is typically travelling on untrusted networks, and through a range of different business partners and ecosystems. To take advantage of the key benefits of IoT- scale and speed - we need to think about data security differently. Security has to be delivered as close to the creation of data as possible and policy needs to be applied so that different parts of the ecosystem can access the information they need without compromising the data payload. In addition to the data problem, we need to be sure that our applications are communicating with the right devices - device identity and integrity is a key component of a secure IoT platform. Many of the current security challenges we see today are as a result of
