Hatch color for sketches, cosmetic sketches, and cross sections is controlled globally by the Letter system color (Graphics tab in the System Colors dialog box) The hatch color for sketches and cosmetic sketches cannot be controlled individually They always follow the Letter system color Cross section hatching line style can be modified independently of the Letter system color I would like to be able to control the hatch color independently of the Letter system color for Sketches, Sketches and Cross Sections, just like the capability provided today for Cross Sections. For me, this makes creating complex labels with different colors directly in ProE as a single part, which greatly simplifies my lable creation process. Has any used PTC Creo Sketch? I'm wondering what people think of it. I've seen a little online about its capabilities, but I'm wondering how practical it is.Any thoughts would be welcome.
Hi, can you enable area measurements when in drawing mode. these area measurements are already available in 3D. you just need a little tweaking of the program. right now the function is grey-out. as in picture below. I would like a ? button like there are in certain windows applications that you can click which will open a help link that pertains to the button you want to try to use. An example would this. I see the 3d box select icon. I want to see if there are any options related to the box selection becuase I want to see if it will choose subassemblies instead of only piece parts. So I go the the help section and type in "3d box select" and I can't find any information on it whatsoever. Repeat this with any tool in the system. If you could click a "what's this?" button and then click what you wanted to learn about, and have it link to a help document that explained 1. an overview of what it should do 2. a step through of the steps that you need to do to use it. 3. a pictoral example that shows EVERY step, 4. any options that relate to this function (whether that be config.pro or otherwise). It would also be nice to link to any tutorials that might be available on the subject. I thin
I would like to sketch a Dashed line, and after that...Thicken the sketch and extrude. This is only possible by using the crappy Thicken featuren in Sketch mode.OR 1 linepiece at a time and Thicken the extrude. Multiple Lines in extrude modus are not accepted.
I want to be able to see what the dimension that I am going to place is, before I click and commit to it. One example would be the angle between two lines. You can get the acute, or obtuse angle depending on where you place the dimension. Unfortunately you may not know for sure whiuch dimension that it's going to be until after you place it. Then if it's wrong, you have to delete it and start over. Depending on the size of the area that you need to click on to get the desired dimension (like with a very narrow angle), this can turn into a "find the correct pixel to click" exercise that can get quite frustrating. It would also make many of the menu's where you have to click "horizontal" "vertical" or "slanted" obolete because you could just move until it creates the correct dimension.
Hi! I'm new using Creo Schematics and I'm having a few problems in my self-training (We've never used this software before at our company). Now I'm able to create ports, fibers, blocks, variable groups and fixed groups. My problem now it's that I don't know how to reference a coil with a NO/NC contact and with a group of contacts. I also would like to now how to put a contact and a coil in different sheets and have them well indexed. I found an example but I couldn't figure out how it was created: Thank you very much. Best regards. David

I put this how-to doc together so other in my company could have quick access to the information i collected to create wire harnesses without using Creo Schematics.I learned a lot from Brian Martin's posts and docs that he has shared online. I also found other resources very helpful as well.My process is a bit different from others so I thought I would share it here.
Yes, even this has to be brought up. As basic at it gets - when you manipulate your curves in both sketcher and style, going into CV mode somehow disables the undo, so any time you move your CVs, good luck if you made a wrong or accidental move. Again, this is as basic as they come - a simple undo for every move, CV or edit point, or whatever - would make functional again.
Surface modelling was the main area which set Creo apart from the ususal suspects but they have now pretty much caught up (though the Style feature still keeps Creo ahead for ID jobs) Workflow for editing sketched splines is looking pretty clunky, needs a general overhaul and primarily bringing into the main sketching environment rather having to enter its own interface.
This is one puzzling to me in a big way, as someone who's been modeling for 17 years in Alias and now transitioning ot ProE - why in the world you have a styling module that's essentially its own sub-modeling environment, separated from the rest of the tools? This makes as much sense as working the same project on 2 different computers in 2 separated rooms. Your styling module has the obvious improvements and basically an evolution of your "normal" sketcher curves and boundary blend surfacing. So why have that separated into another module? As the result, you have curves with very specific building workflows and requirements that sometime do, sometimes do not work with sketcher curves, as in you can't even intersect a sketcher curve and a styling one. That's crazy!!! A curve is a curve!! Curves are supposed to be flexitble building structures that should have maximum flexibility and ability to be manipulated in a unified and consistent way.&nb
I would like the ability in sketcher to toggle display of strong & weak dimensions independent of each other. Use case: After importing or removing references on a complex sketch, many weak dimensions are created. While trying to constrain & dimension the geometry the weak dims clutter the display area. With current functionality, if you use the disp dims filter you can't see what you have strong dimensions on.
So it would be more user friendly.
Limitation of '31'characters for naming any dimension of a geometry should be overcome as it is possible in other 3D modelling software.
Getting all dimensions & its details of a geometry at one place as a list may be in the form of any expressions, spreadsheet etc. like someting similar to 'Listed Expressions' in SOLIDWORKS-NX.
One of my biggest pet peeves is that the way Creo handles GD&T datums is flat out wrong. A datum referenced on a production print must refer to a physical feature of the part, so that someone inpsecting the part knows how to locate the part to inspect it. But Creo only lets you use axes or planes to define datums. These are "theoretical" features that don't actualy exist within the physical part. A planar datum is more of a trivial matter, as you can define a plane to be coincident to any flat surface, and just have to deal with the superfluous 0.00±0.01 dimension from the plane to the surface. But with an axis, it is another matter entirely. An axis datum must be a cylindrical surface. And on a part with multiple cylindrical surfaces all revolved about the same axis, it is wrong to simply define the axis as your datum. One of the surfaces must be the datum, and the remaining surfaces are inspected in reference to the datum. But there is no way to define which surface is the datum,
Stop highlighting whole line segments when the only part that overlaps is the end point vertice. Example: Sketch 3 line segments, then duplicate the middle segment. Then use the "Overlapping Geometry Diagnostic" tool... All 3 line segments highlight. Am I supposed to delete all 3 because they are overlapping? obviously no. Tell that to new users who have enough troubles sketching without adding confusion. SPR 2097338 was filed, but the Mathematician in R&D claims that it is working perfectly, because the end points of one segment "overlap" the end points of the adjacent segment, therefore, both should be highlighted. I feel that "vertex overlap" should be excluded from the "Overlapping Geometry" Tool. There is a separate tool to deal with Vertices - "Highlight Open Ends"
Ok, this is another one that's totally obvious to me, but did not seem obvious to the creo developers. Why not put a simple ability to click on a part or any entity, and either with a hot key, or with a righ-click menu just template it on the spot, making it gray and un-pickable? I.e. a simple semi-hidden mode, like Alias studio had for decades, where you're still able to see a curve or a part you might use later, but don't want it to be available for picking and want it out of the way. Talk about reducing motions and clicks and constant "hide" and "unhide" operations. This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. I am a Creo user, mostly Schematics and my HR Department has asked me if CREO is a acronym, does it stand for something? Sincerely, John
We have a customer who wants to be able to move his license between 2 computers in 2 seperate locations, his home office and a clients office regularly. The Flexnet license server used by PTC will allow this functionality, however this is not currently supported by PTC.This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Hi All,I am able to addPro2dLinedef in first quadrant of section using element tree.
I am trying calculate the flow area in a butterfly valve and am having some issues trying to quickly grab area measurements. Currently, I open the valve x amount of degrees, then sketch the profile of the angled butterfly plate, fill it, then measure the area of that filled sketch. It works pretty well but it is VERY time consuming. I have also tried to use the shadow analysis tool but it isn't quite accurate enough for what I need. Is there a better way???Sincerely,Brandon
