Creo Cabling – Branching vs Splice Usage

I know there are multiple ways to define routing in PTC Creo Cabling, and I would like to clarify the correct approach.

I currently have a cable routed from one connector (P1) to another connector (P2). This cable carries VCC power, so I need to branch off this line at some point and route it to an additional connector.

What is the correct method to create this kind of branch, especially considering that I will later create a flatten harness for documentation?

Here is what I have tried so far:

  • I used a physical splice component to create the split. However, when I create the flatten harness, the splice appears disconnected or “floating.”
  • I also tried adding a location on the cable and routing a new cable from that location to another connector. In this case, Creo reports the cable as incomplete.

What is the recommended best practice for:

  1. Creating a branch from an existing cable
  2. Ensuring proper connectivity
  3. Getting a correct and clean flatten harness output

Any guidance or recommended workflow would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
