Scheduling kick off meeting

Checking schedules with the team, it looks like we're butting into the Easter breaks (some the week before Easter, and some after).  So, let's plan to have our first meet up the week of April 17th.

 

2 items to prepare:

1.  Scheduling:  Does Thursday, April 20th 10-11 Boston time (4-5 Germany time) work for the team?

2.  Topics:  What should be discuss?  If helpful, I can provide updates on material management and "design for manufacturability" integrations.  Product footprint follow up and "design for disassembly" are 2 other topics brought up recently.

Hi Dave,

 

Yes, April 20th from 10-11 should work fine for me.  

 

As for topics of discussion, we could walk through the details of the Design for Sustainability Scorecard as presented in the PTC / Cummins whitepaper.  We considered getting into much more detail with the Scorecard but thought starting with these four categories as the best practical way to start to change the culture, and to not overwhelming the practitioner.  Designing for disassembly is something we have within our "Aftermarket Scorecard", but the details for "how" to do it we thought too much to get into at this point beyond ensuring that the experts in reclamation or remanufacturing have "approved" the direction taken for the item being Design Reviewed.

Your proposed topics are all well-suited for getting into the general topic, I think. I don't have preferences right now. For me, it seems useful to understand what needs to change from the current status quo so that we can get meaningful information for future events (like disassembly) or to better handle material from an environmental perspective. For me, anything helps to get into the field.

Timing is OK, but I would prefer 1 hour later (11-12 Boston time), if possible.

I am good with the topics mentioned above. Perhaps also alignment on scope and purpose for this group would be good - alignment on expectations, if you will.

Hi Dave, 

 

Like Katrina I would prefer one hour later (11-12 EST). I have a meeting with the CTOs which I cant move. 

Agenda wise I would like to understands your roadmaps about

- Material Management and how to make material a first class citizen of PLM. What new data objects will be created in WC to enable this, How do they relate to parts in WC and EBOMs?

- Design for Sustainability (I think you wrote Design for Manufacturability). I would like to understand how we can provide a directionally correct PCF information to the product designer in order to make the right design choices on material and how much material to be added. 

- Design for Disassembly is something I see as a secondary subject which can only be used if we deeper dive into each of our different product types.
