Are the photo albums still gone/dead?Display

Man, I REALLY don't like the format of this forum anymore.  Can't find anything.  REALLy hope they resurrect the photo album section, as I think it's great for displaying techniques.

 

Anyone have any answers to what happened?

Why isn't there going to be a photo section?  Is this new forum software incapable of it?

PTC decided to switch the community software from Jive to Lithium and apparently Lithium does not support shared photo albums (or a lot of other things Jive supported.)

 

It is possible to view (and share) everyone's personal photo albums.  You just have to enter the user's user-id in this url:

https://community.ptc.com/t5/media/gallerypage/user-id/<youruserid>/tab/albums

 

For example, here is your list of public albums:

https://community.ptc.com/t5/media/gallerypage/user-id/168666/tab/albums

 

And here is a slightly different variant that shows all images:

https://community.ptc.com/t5/media/gallerypage/user-id/168666/tab/all

 

Very Important !!!!

  1. When uploading images to add to a post they are automatically added to your photo album.
  2. Deleting an image from your photo album also deletes it from any post it was every used in.  (Horrible design.)

Hi,

 

Last May the PTC Community was migrated to a new platform, and we are working through some content migration/ reorganization still.  I understand in Jive you had a seperate video area (didn't know about the photo area) but in this new forum/community strategy every video/photo is tied to discussion or idea thread.  Please keep checking back in this community announcement area for more information about the community changes.

Hey Jaime,

 

Yes, there was an area specifically for photo albums, there was quite a few on there from a bunch of different people.  It was a great place to showcase new techniques and show new ideas.  Pictures being worth 1,000 words each, right?

C'mon PTC, get it together and get the photo albums back.  It was a source of knowledge, and inspiration for users, and, this should inter you most if nothing else does, a great showcase for your product's capabilities.  You're seriously slacking on this.

    Hi, I am still trying to unearth "some treasures" from the backend and reorganize our content.  We aren't going to be able to have a photo "section" like you had in Jive, but if they are in our system we'll do something with them I promise.  Please standby!  Thank you for coming to the community!

    Why isn't there going to be a photo section?  Is this new forum software incapable of it?  Or, can we then simply have a section in out own profile where we can store our "albums"?

    If this new forum software/format can;t have simple photo albums, then isn't it a big step backwards?  I see a lot of expert users I know from the beginning have pretty much abandoned this site since the switch, and that's a very bad thing as they posted a lot of great information.  I hate the new forum format, and I know I post a lot less....
