Bought a copy of the student edition of Creo Elements/Pro Student Edition yesterday and cannot get past 2%. I have emailed - and had no reply. Is there a link to the full dvd rip?

I needed this up and running yesterday and am already wasting another day trying to get it to work. Please help.

I've had the exact same problem, and so far nothing has worked for me. I've wasted 2 days trying all of the things they suggest and nothing has worked for me.

The latest thing I'm trying with not much faith is downloading the full DVD image of the Schools Edition at this link:

    http://www.ptc.com/go/softwareforfirst

I doubt it will help me with my Student's edition, but I'll give it a try. It's a huge 3.6Gb file.

I have already missed 2 assignments from my class with this problem.

I bought my downloadable student version as well on 12/01 through digitalRiver and have since then never advanced over 2%. I was able to download over the posted link the school version within 2 hours but it doesnt accept the student licence which I purchased. I didnt find yet a link to download the DVD image. Did you resolve the problem in the meantime?

    December 7, 2010

If you purchased a Student Edition, the DVD media for this edition can be downloaded at http://apps.ptc.com/schools/WF5_Student_DVD.zip.

You do not want the Schools Edition as your Product Code will not work with it.

Because of the size of the DVD (3.7GB), I would suggest you use a download manager such as freedownloadmanager.org. It will enable you to start, stop and restart your download if you need to.

    Thanks,

    Adam

Subject: Fwd: having problems with installation of Pro-E

    Hi,

I am still having problems with this. I ordered it and tried to install the downloads and everything went fine until the last screen where it hung up saying 1%. I thought it was due to the size of the files so I letit run all night (12 hrs) and it still said 1% this morning. I have also tried downloading the whold DVD image and it won't even start up when i select "setup". It may help if I got the actual DVD but I can't order that now evidently. I have gotten no response on this so far. Can someone help on this?

    Chris

    Hi,

I just bought the personal use version of PRO-E. My order number is below. I have downloaded the files. I have tried all day to get it installed. I get all the way to the last screen (including downloading the liscence, etc) which reads "PTC Installation Progress".

    Download progress 100%.

    Copy Files 1%.

At this point it stalls and goes no further.

    Can you help on this?

I have the exact same problem. I bought the product Dec 23, and now I can't install it

Per the post above, I hope it will be fixed as soon as possible, considering PTC has been aware of the problem now since at least 6 days ago....

You're better off downloading the CD image if possible. This has been a problem for at least 5 months that I'm aware of. The reply has always been its downloading a large CAB file and that's why it takes so long or antivirus or firewall or internet connection. For me that just doesn't make sense since downloading the CD image took less than 2 hours and downloading the 200MB web installer took less than 4 minutes for me. I don't know how packets translates into downloading data but when downloading the CD image there was a lot of internet activity and a large number of packets were transfered. After 4 hours initializing the install using the web installer there is almost no internet activity and the number of packets downloaded was about 2000. When downloading the 200MB installer file approximately 145632 packets were transfered in 4 minutes. Disabling antivirus and firewall made no difference. I've tried this several times and on different computers and always have the same problem. However, this seems to fall on deaf ears since they have tested it and it appears they have minimal or no problems.

You can temporary disable your firewall or antivirus software. If this doens't work, please check with your internet provider or network administrator to remove any restrictions on your internet connection.

I am having the same problem. I got my license file, etc. and started the installer. It hangs at 1% on the Copy Files indicator (it indicates 100% Download Progress). I checked the data throughput on my Internet link and it was virtually non-existant (my connection works just fine for everything else and I can sustain > 10Mbps downloads if a server can feed it to me at that speed). This certainly appears to be a problem on PTC's end. I will cancel and download the image that the link has been posted to. Sigh, not an auspicious start to my first experience with PTC products.

Update: Downloaded the DVD image pointed to by the link provided (took about 2 hours), unzipped it, made a DVD, installed it from there and it worked fine. FYI.

I just purchased the creo elements/student on July 7th and I am experiencing the same problem. I have tried several times; but PTC setup freezes at 1% or 2% everytime during the final stage while copying files. I have disabled my security suite, made sure I enabled cookies and did everything the installation guide says I should do but I get the same result each time. I have been emailing - for the past 3-4 days; it looks as if they are on a long vacation at the beach somewhere and are not responding to emails. There is no phone contact for them and I wonder what the purpose of - is if they hide away from and can't do what they are paid to do? This is not the first ptc product I've had. I first purchased the student version of proE in 2001 when they have proE and Mechanica on CDs that you must insert in your computer before you can use the program. Even though it is now "dinasaur" and cumbersome inserting and removing the CDs to use the program, the program worked beautifully and that was when I fell in love with Pro E. In 2001, PTC had a great software and a great customer care team to go with it because I could contact PTC in 2001 when I had a problem and someone responded to me in a decent amount of time. Last year, I tried to upgrade my 2001 student version to ProE Wildfire 4. I was told the 2001 version of the software does not qualify for an upgrade; so I should purchase a new license. I did by purchasing the ProE Wildfire 4.0 and after several installation difficulties I was able to install it. But then the program wouldn't work properly on the laptop I had at that time (Dell 1525) because the graphics card in the 1525 is not capable of handling proE adequately. As a result, I could hardly use the software. I purchased a new laptop with adequate nvidia quadro graphics that can handle pro E.When I tried to transfer my proE wildfire 4.0 license from my old computer to my new computer, I was told that I couldn't transfer the license; I had to purchase a new license. I did, and now I can't install it! I am downloading the DVD as mentioned in the posts to see if I can install it. This has not been a very pleasant experience.

Update: I downloaded the DVD as suggested in the posts, unzipped and was able to install the program. So far, it seems to be working but I can't get access to the tutorials and other information on the welcome page. Most of the items come up saying there is an error in the script on this page or I am not authorized to access the information on the page. I'm not sure if there's anything else on the DVD that I should install. I wonder why - could not respond to the numerous emails I sent them and give me this simple information to solve my problem! And I wonder why PTC is still selling this software as it is when they know that there is a problem with the installation. Thank you planetptc. Had it not been for these posts, I wouldn't have been able to resolve my problem.

    July 11, 2011

    Marcien,

I'm sorry about your installation problems and the lack of response from -. There were some issues with this e-mail last week and unfortunatly, this resulted in some e-mails not being returned. Typically those emails are answered in less than 24 hours. Regarding the web install, it works for many users and not for others, this is why the download of the DVD was made available. We are trying to fix this in the next release.

In regard to the tutorials and other information, I will need more specifics from you. As a Student customer, you will not have access to all content at PTC.com as most of this was developed for and is only available to our commercial customers. I have checked the page this morning and not received any script errors.

If you are looking for training resources, you could get started at ptcschools.com, this page has links to content that is made available to our K12 customers. Another source would be to purchase the eLearning Libray for Creo Elements/Pro, this gives you access to the same materials that are purchased and used by our commercial customers.

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for your response. I am happy now because the DVD solved the installation problems and the program successfully installed and works as expected. I'm guessing that the script errors that I had at the beginning was due to the fact that I did not restart my computer after the installation before running the program for the first time. After I restarted my computer, I did not receive any more script error messages and so far the program has been working properly as it's ecpected to do. I was really frustrated last week when I couldn't install pro E and I couldn't get any help from -. I'm glad the DVD is made available to address this problem; but it would be nice if this information is communicated to custormers at the time of purchase. If I had this information at the time of my first installation attempt, I believe I wouldn't have all the frustrations and headaches that I had.

    Thanks,

    Marcien.

    Hi All,

Trying to download the past 4 days. Finally got it done after 4 hours, and the zip file has an invaild path.

    Help!

    March 9, 2012

    Kenneth,

It appears that your download was not successful. Did you use a download manager to assist in the download? If you install Free Download Manager, it will enable you to stop and restart the download as well as better ensure you don't end up with a corrupt file when you're done.

If this doesn't help, please contact the Academic Support Team here:
