Having difficulties with engraving with Creo PTC 3.0 tutorial...

Through the tutorial video I have gotten to where I need to offset the copied surface and I have switched into the expanded feature but my program will not allow me to then select my two texts. Am I doing something wrong?

It is not for a course. It is a job, I am engraving a school name onto a bracket connector. It is a rectangular cube with cuts, grooves, and holes put in. But the name is on a sold place.

Well, when you say, "Through the tutorial video I have gotten to where I need to offset the copied surface", what specific tutorial video are you watching?
