I can't access tags in KEPServer EX 6 Quick Client Window

No tags show up and it comes up as empty and when i try to manually place tags it says item validation failed. I have tried disconnecting and connecting the runtime since I am using the trial version but that does not seem to help. I am trying to connect it to CODESYS and then to Factory IO. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
