Image usage with Android SDK

Im trying to develep an app that sends an image property type to Thingworx (the image is a picture taken with smartphone's camera) and display it in a Mashup. I'm kind of noob working with images and I was wondering if someone could teach me how to manipulate this type of properties and how to store them.
