Installation: license error message: "invalid file or format"

I followed the instructions and entered the license code BK800908EDSTUDENTED UNI, then my username and password (Message: success). Then I received the error message: invalid file or format.

Creo 8

Tested on Windows 10 and Windows 11 and on different hardware (64-bit)

Virus scanning and Firewall is off

 

How can I fix this?

Hi,

Please contact academicsupport@ptc.com. You need to send them the Host ID (Mac address of the ethernet) and also the product code used. I hope they will send you valid license file.

 

Host ID ... this means physical address of network card

  • if Ethernet network card is installed in your computer then use its physical address
  • if the only network card is WiFi network card then you must turn off MAC address randomization to get real physical address
