License problem with running Creo4.0

Hello,

We are a new FTC team and are trying to install Creo4.0 for the first time. Everything seems to work fine and install is successful. When opening Creo for the first time a warning message comes up:

Warning Message list

License request failed for featureRequesting CREOPMA_SchoolSTD3...

C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing\BE400407EDSTUDENTEDK12_license.dat:(-1) Cannot find license file.

I have tried navigating the Licensing folder and placing the .dat file there. I have viewed some of the other solutions from previous similar questions and I am unable to follow those directions. They generally say that from the PTC Installation Assistant point the license to the correct file at the "License" tab - something like below:

https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Academic-Program-Discussions/Creo-4-0-Problem-with-installation/td-p/483266

When I run setup-schools.exe file I do get the PTC Installation Assistant, but Licences is not a tab on the left as in previously solved questions and Setup Licenses is greyed out. I can only select "Install new software" even though I just finished installing (and uninstalling...installing...uninstalling...installing while trying to resolve this issue) . It asks for login information and successfully installs. Then when I go to openit I get the same error.

Not sure what to try next to resolve. Any help would be appreciated:)

Hi,

if you want to use Creo 4.0, then

  • move all license files from C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing somewhere else
  • uninstall Creo 4.0
  • launch setup.exe from Creo 4.0 installation media
  • enter Product code

K-12       students can use Product code BE410708EDSTUDENTEDK12
University students can use Product code BK410705EDSTUDENTUNICL
