Question

Mathcad 15 student product code invalid

We had ordered a bunch of product codes (student license) and experience the problem that they are not accepted when we try to install Mathad 15.

The product codes all start with MP010111EA.... an because of the MP I suppose they are intended for MC Prime. We are not (yet) interested in Mathcad Prime and don't want to have to install Prime first simply to get a valid license file which then works for MC 15 too. It is also not reasonable to have every student to call technical support, give them his product code and MAC-Adress to get a valid license file.

I thought that Mathcad 15 and Mathcad Prime share license file AND product code but it seems that this is not true at least for the product code.

Are we doing something wrong or is there a simple solution available?

Thanks an sincerely

WE

Read these online instructions. They should help you. Look at the bottom of the page, where it describes how to use your Mathcad Prime 1.0 license file with Mathcad 15.

I thought that Mathcad 15 and Mathcad Prime share license file AND product code but it seems that this is not true at least for the product code.

That's the case on my machine.

I forgot to ask what operating system are you using?

    WE,

I moved this discussion into the Schools Program community for further visibility.

    Dan,

Looking at the posting frequency of this hidden and rather unknown corner of that community, I think that your arbitrary message moving is much more for further INvisibility, possibly on purpose.

As You may have noticed, it's primarily a Mathcad question, and even though its dealing with student licenses, its not a specific academic or school theme.

"Is it possible to install and license Mathcad 15 without prior installation of Prime, given that you ordered a bunch of MC15 product codes and got delivered Prime+MC15 wih Prime product codes??"

One would think that it should be a very simple question which could be quickly answered by some knowing people, maybe even PtC staff, but my experience so far attest the opposite. Your moving action is just one more sad facette.

    MC_User,

It's the Internet, there's no hiding of posts. Nor would it be in the best interest of the community to do so. If anything, I would want this discussion front and center so it's answers can be paid forward to other users experiencing the same issue.

The Academic and School communities strictly deal with Student versions/licenses of PTC software. If the question was regarding the student version of Creo or Windchill, I would use the same discretion and move it to this community as well.

The Academic community (and its sub-communities) are staffed part-time by PTC employees (unlike the product communities) and is therefore further reason to relocate the discussion.
