Trouble creating a thread using helical sweep

Hello dear ptc community,
as you can See in the first picture, I created a bolt and now want to make a thread using the helical sweep tool. Although when I select 'remove Material' it removes everything except for the thread (2nd pic) instead of it carving out the thread so I'm left with a spring-like shape. Am I using the tool wrong or is this a bug? Note that I am fairly new to Creo and CAD in general. Thank you in advance 🙂
