Use of Launch System
Do all of the UAV options provided in the detailed background require a launch/catapult system?
For example, we were considering using a Rotary Wing (Helicopter) and didn't think it required one to get it in the air.

None of the options MUST use a catapult/launcher. In fact, it would only be useful for options A and B, the two fixed-wing platforms, if they were configured to carry a heavy payload or fuel load. The value of the catapult/launcher is that is provides a means of assisting a heavy platform into the air in a small (short) space.
