I may need a few more details: How much time did you give Windchill to start? It can take 3-7 minutes for you to get beyond the "Service Unavailable" message in the browser, but it also can take up to 10 minutes. I usually launch the VM from the Desktop option and simply read the first few pages of the class guidebook for a few minutes.
Occasionally, Windchill services fails to start. It will continuously loop around the dos window.
If it seems to be taking a long time, here are a few troubleshooting options:
End your VM session and launch again. In the VM toolbar, go to Profile > End Session. This is the fastest route.
Open the Windchill Shell and use the windchill stop/windchill start commands. There is a shortcut on the desktop for this utility.
Just to confirm, is this related to Exercise 1 (Create a Project)?
If so, the provided user dmarino / ptc does have the required permissions to create a project, so this doesn’t appear to be a licensing or access issue. I’ve tested this on my side and wasn’t able to reproduce the problem—the option is available as expected.
To help us investigate further, could you please share the exact steps you followed leading up to this issue? That will help us try to reproduce it and see what might be going on.
