If PTC actually put out materials on how to set-up and use their software their VAR's would have no V to A (and wouldn't have any income either). They have to make their money somehow. Setup and training are an "additional fee".

There are still some things that should be covered in a Start-up Guide for new installs.

The VAR can add the nice tweaks that make it work faster and better for the customers environment.

Every IndyCar team uses a Dallara chassis, Honda engine and Firestone tires. Yet, why is that when you look close at the cars, you see little differences and only certain teams consistently run at the front. (Congratulations to Sarah Fisher Racing and Ed Carpenter for winning yesterday. An underdog team that knows that one track.) It is the team that makes the car a winner. That fine tuning is what the VAR adds to your setup.
