Looks like I may not be going. Would have to personally pay for hotel. $275+ per night is pretty steep.

I'm sorry to hear - a complimentary pass goes a long way to help with some of the costs, which was always our hope in running the surveys. Is there anything we can do to supplement your cause to hopefully be covered as a development expense through your company?

The company has basically said "No" to any help covering expenses. They will not even consider attendance as part of my "work" and therefor I even need to take vacation days to attend.
