Reverse Engineering a part in Wildfire4 with an exported Step/IGES created from a Romer Measuring Arm

I want to reverse engineer a part. I had our QC technician measure the part using the Romer Measuring Arm.

He sent me a step file. The step file was in 3-d. However, it only had circles and lines at elevations. It didn't have

any surfaces. Is there a better format that should be used? iges maybe? Has anybody had success trying

to import files created by a Romer Measuring Arm?
