Have a terrific weekend. Tomorrow is a vacation day, so here are the funnies a little early.     Top Ten Things Engineering School didn't Teach You There are at least 10 types of capacitors. Theory tells you how a circuit works, not why it does not work. Not everything works according to the specs in the databook. Anything practical you learn will be obsolete before you use it, except the complex math, which you will never use. Engineering is like having an 8 a.m. class and a late afternoon lab every day for the rest of your life. Overtime pay? What overtime pay? Managers, not engineers, rule the world. Always try to fix the hardware with software. If you like junk food, caffeine and all-nighters, go into software. Dilbert is not a comic strip, it's a documentary.

Just a few words to share that our office near Munich is (since recently) allowing employees to come back, I came today in "testing mode" ... still with limited amounts of people, voluntary basis, etc... the feeling of being back is somewhat good and strange at the same... it really feels like a long time we have gone through...   Wishing everyone health and patience to keep up with everything.   -Ignacio

Hi everybody,I was asked, since I had been the first in the community to talk about what was happening about covid-19, how are things going here in Italy and especially if they are improving.   I make a brief premise before updating you, trying to stay within the rules of the community, although I would like to be very caustic with my comments.   The pandemic has hit hard, more or less in the same way, on all continents, regardless of the different health systems, governments of different political colours, the wealth of the affected country, and so on.   I have to say, however, that those who, at international level, had to give health guidelines to follow, were at the very least wavering in their declarations, leaving governments and populations in uncertainty.   Besides, we were all overwhelmed because we were unprepared to deal with this pandemic.   I hope that what has happened will at least help to ensure that this does not happen again in the same way in

I had to run an errand this morning and K-Love Radio told me it was National Bestfriend's Day.  Public school remote learning is wrapping up and my other two "real" homeschoolers are getting closer to being done to where I feel like the curriculum we paid for this year got its money's worth.  However, I am realizing this is still going to be a different kind of summer.    My church just opened with restrictions around wearing face masks and less "congregating" so many of us are sticking with the online services. (Truthfully, I am worried that my family is getting a little "too comfortable" with this new normal). Vacation Bible School (which normally runs last week of June) was canceled, and the summer camp we volunteer as a family in Maine can't really take "out of state" volunteers.  My son's baseball season was "delayed" then the new requirements for the spectators to sit in cars and required face coverings  for the players running bases encouraged us to

For those of you in the States, be blessed this Memorial Day Weekend as we remember those that have sacrificed for our country.     For an optimist the glass is half full, for a pessimist it's half empty, and for an engineer is twice bigger than necessary.

Back in the office this week. I hope everyone is doing well.   You might be an engineer if.....   The salesman at the Best Buy (or any other store) cannot answer your questions.   (Or the technician that comes to install the new air conditioning unit.)

If you all are like me - you are talking to friends and family more everyday then ever before.   Smiles and laughs are worth their weight in gold these days - so let's take the opportunity to share what our personal networks are sharing!   To kick this off - as most of you know by now, I live in Pennsylvania and the weather has been Atrocious!  My fellow PTC Pennsylvania colleagues have already agreed with me with me on this point.  The rain, wind, cold....these weather conditions only adds insult to injury while we remain under Stay at Home orders.   A friend of mine sent the below to me - and I laughed so hard - I cried.  Yes - I cried.  (Do not Judge!)         PTC Community Members - Share the Humor as I figure we can all use a good laugh!     😊 Leigh

I have a mixer jar with oil, honey, water showing the density differences before I mixed them and poured over the rest of the ingredients.  Final product: granola. 2nd batch since I have been home.  

My county (Harris County Texas) has implemented a requirement to wear masks when outside the house. Ignoring the politics of this. The wife and I, went on youtube and made ourselves and some of our family and friends some masks. To be completely clear, the wife did the skilled work, I cut material and supplies and did a lot of ironing...i ironed the heck out of those masks!!!

So, here at PTC, I am a member of the "Green" Team.  I got caught up  "enjoying" the Earth this week and forgot to post what I did to help the Earth!    Since I am a Girl Scout mom, we are pretty religious about Making the World a Better Place by cleaning up trash one stray beverage can at a time.         Did you know that the first Earth Day was on April 22, 1970 -50 years ago!  Here, at PTC, we have a "Green Action Challenge" to plant 1,970 trees.  A "Green Action"=1 tree donated by PTC.  For my "Green Action," I picked up some trash off the side of the road with my girl, Maple.  Did you perform any "Green Actions" this week in honor of Earth Day?  Please tell us or share a picture on this thread.  I would love to see some flower gardens from some PTC Community members in warmer climates!

PTC is having a "Work From Home" Boss contest.   I thought I would share my entry.  Although it's no secret to the PTC Community that I am kind of a fanatic when it comes to taking cute pictures of my golden girl, Maple.       She is the best boss ever! She makes me take breaks to get fresh air, makes me think twice about snacks between meals with her puppy dog eyes, provides emotional and tactile sensory support (throughout the day I get to randomly hug her!), and if I have to "burn the midnight oil" she is right there with me every step of the way. Literally, every step!    Who is the boss in your house right now?  Do share with the PTCooler.  

Missing the routine. Lots of home projects done.   No one expected that when we changed the clocks we would go from Standard Time to The Twilight Zone   Quarantine Day 25: Went to the restaurant called "The Kitchen". You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. They don't pay the help much and then you have to do the dishes and clean up. I have no idea how this place stays in business.
