Yes, we currently do use Solidworks. You need to use the Windchill Workgroup Manager if you are going to store your files in Windchill. Only make modification to the Solidworks files in Solidworks. If you modify a Solidworks file in Creo Parametric, it make a Creo copy, so now the two (solidworks) files are not associated.

We are also working with the windchill workgroup manager for solidowrks and inventor and using Creo Unite to reuse the data in Creo. We are in the migration part to move everyone to Creo.
