Curves and surfaces keep reappearing

Curves and surfaces in parts and assemblies keep reappearing even though I've hidden them in Layer Tree. I have to unhide them and re-hide them to get them to disappear, but it seems to only have a temporary effect.
What's wierd is that I am saving the view status...
