My company has the default setup to open parts in wireframe. I would like to change it so that it always opens in solid instead. I cannot seem to find the config.pro options needed to make this change. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi, you want to set the config.pro option named DISPLAY to SHADE, which is the default value. If your company has deployed a config.sup file for all users, you may not be able to override this setting and will have to push the button everytime you launch Pro/E. Sounds like it would be better to convince them to not use the WIREFRAME option 😉

I was afraid of that. I used the find tool to search display and I found that my "display" option is set to shade. I was afraid that possibly the config.sup was overriding it. Thanks, I will talk to the system administrators about it.

Hi Russell,

You can check for sure by choosing Tools > Options and setting the top left drop box to the config.sup (it defaults to your personal start point config.pro)

This wont let you change it (assuming it was made read only on your machine or is overwritten from a server each start up) but it will let you see if Display is set for the Wireframe option.

Maybe the best solution if this is the case is to make a couple of mapkeys. For example we use F8 for Hidden Line and F9 for Shaded image (our default is set to shaded). I find wireframe of limited use except when I want to see surfaces/quilts to see which edges are open and which are merged.

I figured it out. It actually wasn't the config.sup. It was quite stupid actually. I was using the find function searching "display," which brought up the display and it was set to Shaded*. I thought that it was set correctly.

When I actually went to the config.pro drop down however, Display was in fact set to "Wireframe," I am new to the company and have not set this, so I am assuming the config they are using to setup the computers was set to open in wireframe. Thanks for the help guys.
