ProE start up problem

Good day all.

We have (4) users running WF5 M020 on desktops and (1) engineering laptop running WF4 that's shared among us for travel. We need to have WF4 and WF5 on the laptop so I installed WF5 this morning but something is now wrong. When you try to launch either version, the laptop hangs for close to (5) minutes, then the ProE splash screen appears for ~minute then disappears. After that, nothing else happens. If you try to launch either version again (without rebooting - just click the icon again), it loads instantly and runs fine. This happens when the laptop is connected to the network and when you've borrowed a license.

Our desktops run a small .bat file that loads a common .pro and .win file from our server but the laptop does not - it just runs the standalone pro.exe file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the problem is that the physical address of the laptop changes when it is connected to the network. Below is more information on this topic from the MCAD Central Pro-E forum:

  1. Topic: Installing ProE Wildfire 2.0 in laptop: http://www.mcadcentral.com/proe/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=35261&KW=hostid

  2. Topic: LAN and wireless ethernet Card: http://www.mcadcentral.com/proe/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=35357&KW=hostid

  3. Topic: proe can’t read ethernet address: http://www.mcadcentral.com/proe/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=33667&KW=hostid

Pro-E will not launch if it does not have the correct physical address as indicated by the ptchostid.bat file. In my notes, here is the resolution I have from PTC (Be careful if editing the registry).
