How to set a update a version for entire project checkpoint

I have to project that have several development paths (branches).  Some of the branches has been released.  Now I want to cleanup the project tree and also preserve the members version to avoid retest at module/unit test. I know that the we can update member revision for individual files.  But It would take time and might have many human error.  Is there a way to update member version for entire projects?
