Getting Error "Unable to obtain a license for optional component PTC Arbortext Composer". This is for Arbortext 8.1. The Department manager has purchased floating licenses for about 12 people, most of which work remotely..

Also I believe when you install editor you need to choose to install print composer also. Something else to check.

Check the license file and verify that print composer is listed. If you are using a license server, the same license file is used for editor and print composer, so in theory if editor works so should print composer.

You may be using the Arbortext shortcut called PTC Arbortext Editor.
With this shortcut you only have a license to write content.

To publish in PDF or another format you need the Arbortext Print composer license.

If Arbortext Editor cannot find the license on the license server or on your PC it won't be able to publish.
Alternatively, if you have an Arbortext Styler license, use the PTC Arbortext Editor with styler shortcut as it includes the Arbortext Print composer license.

If you don't have Arbortext people on staff it may be easiest to lodge a support ticket. It can be fiddly to get the licensing setup right the first time. Additionally, it may be that you are meant to use a publisher server rather than desktop publishing.
