Parameter for Units in a model.

Parameter for Units in a model.

I'm trying to create a relations in my model that is determined by whether it's metric or inch. I've been unable to find the parameter that reports if the model is metric or inch. I have a call into PTC, but they have not called me back, so I'm turning to the experts. Is there a parameter in the model that states the units of the model, if not is there a way to get that in other ways?
Thanks in advance,
Mike Heath

The last time I checked on this there was no parameter, but you could
create one of your own in the templates you use. I would expect the best
place to create it would be within the first datum feature, whether that
be a Coordinate System or a Datum Plane assuming you start your templates
with those features. If I remember correctly you can 'designate' the
parameter which would mean that the part would ask for that value, never
had a reason to do that so my memory could be wrong on those details.
(Someone, please, correct me if I am wrong.) Then in each relationship
you create you would need to place the parameter, and change the value or
use an if-else function to control the value of the parameter.

I know this is a really rough idea, and if I had ever had a need for it I
would have cleaned it up and got all the details right, but we have yet to
use this idea.

There is no parameter available that tells what units are been used in the models.
I had a long discussion with PTC technical support regarding this matter.
One of the options it to have a programmer create a Pro/Toolkit application to extract the units for each model.
The other option is to read out the units parameter for the material file assigned to each model.

You can put this table in a drawing of the assembly.

A quick way to change all the units to one system is enter Mechanica with the assembly and it will ask if you want to change all the parts.
