Question from Mohammed: How do the manufacturing rules get updated or new rules added? Can an org add its own rules?
Answer: New rules can be added a couple of different ways:
Rules can be added through the Rule Development Framework inside the software. This method can be used by engineers within the organization that has deployed the software and doesn't require any software coding
Rules can also be added through our DFMPro services team, which is focused on DFMPro rule development. In this case the rules will be coded into the software.
In addition, rules may be added in every release of the software. These added rules can come from our R&D team or through specific requests from existing customers,
Question from Mohammed: Does DFMPro support all variations of plastic parts manufacturing such as standard injection molding, over-molding, multi-layer, water-assisted IM, gas-assisted IM, thermoforming, blow molding, etc.?
Answer: Rules can be added and tailored to fit multiple manufacturing methods. Additional rules can be built by HCL.
