Thingworx Upgrade for Azure hosted SQL

Hi,

I am on Thingowrx 9.0 for a project. We need to upgrade to PTC ThingWorx 9.7. I have performed numerous Postgres SQL upgrades, but not with MS SQL. I've been trying to find an article through the Knowledge Base, and the proper steps are nowhere to be found.

Thingworx Version: 9.0
Azure MS SQL: V12

Thanks,

Hi @pshashipreetham,

The upgrade procedure for ThingWorx almost remains the same, regardless of whether you are using Postgres or Azure SQL as the persistent provider/DB.

To upgrade ThingWorx 9.0 to 9.7, you need to find an intermediate version to upgrade to first like 9.3 by looking at the supported upgrade path table in the Help Center below:

https://support.ptc.com/help/thingworx/platform/r9.7/en/index.html#page/ThingWorx/Help/Installation/Installation/upgrading_to_9_7.html#wwID0ERH1S

https://support.ptc.com/help/thingworx/platform/r9/en/index.html#page/ThingWorx/Help/Installation/Installation/upgrading_to_9_3.html#

The only major difference is when you do upgrade, you refer to the different section (run difference script) to upgrade DB schema and migrate data

https://support.ptc.com/help/thingworx/platform/r9.7/en/?_gl=1*17zr1p8*_gcl_au*MTgzMTIzNjU4OS4xNzMzNzI5OTM3*_ga*MTY4MDUyOTM4NS4xNzMzNzI5OTM1*_ga_7NMP2MSYPM*MTczMzg3ODU1NS41LjEuMTczMzg4ODkxMi41MC4wLjA.*_ga_CBN5QVB9VJ*MTczMzg4ODkwMi4xMi4xLjE3MzM4ODg5MDkuMC4wLjA.#page/ThingWorx/Help/Installation/Instal...

Also, you might want to change your signature which contains sensitive contact information. Anyone can access PTC community and unlike support case, you should not expect someone to contact you via email or mobile for the post you raised on community.

Best,

Tony
