Is it possible to export a bom configured to suit a simplified representation from CREO?
Solved! Go to Solution.
From my past investigations, no.
Creo considers simplified representations as different ways to open a model - but it's the same model. With assemblies, that means all the simplified reps should have 1 BOM and 1 part number. If there were different BOMs, then you'd have to move to different models or use a family table.
You can of course, modify the WTPart structure manually after the CAD model is checked in.
Alternatively, I did find a method for omitting from the BOM an instance of a model in Creo, and having that update Windchill. This documentation talks about SolidWorks, but it works for Creo as well: https://support.ptc.com/help/wnc/r11.2.0.0/en/index.html#page/Windchill_Help_Center/WWGMSWAdvTechSolidExcludeBOM.html
I then provided a guide for our users to display my new attribute in their tree so they can set the parameter for each part they want to omit from the Windchill BOM - Reference: https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS195605?&language=en&posno=2&q=show%20component%20parameters%20in%20tree&source=search
That is a great question! I am not aware of a BOM filter based on Simplified Reps, but I have not looked for it before either. Interested to hear the comments on this one.
Thanks Scott.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I will take a look at your suggestions when I get some downtime later in the week.
It would be really good if we can export the BOM structure directly from windchill or Creo View. Especially the full BOM structure from top level to the ground. Additionally I expect ERPs to have this function too. We see the structure everyday, so why can't we bring it to excel, haha
