Complete Removal of ThingWorx – Are These Steps Sufficient?

Hi Community,

We are decommissioning ThingWorx and have performed the following steps:

  1. Ran uninstall.exe, which removed the ThingWorx services and installation folders
  2. Deleted the ThingWorx database from PostgreSQL

Can you please confirm if these two steps are sufficient to completely remove ThingWorx?

Additionally, are there any other folders, files, or configurations (e.g., storage directories, environment variables, logs) that should be manually removed to ensure a clean uninstall?

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Hello @leekhil_kataray ,

I have never tried to remove ThingWorx. I get more questions about how to install ThingWorx.
If you have run the uninstaller and removed the database you have covered the major components.
There is an environment variable which you might have installed. "THINGWORX_PLATFORM_SETTINGS", location of ThingWorx if not the default location.

There are 3 directories which you should search:
 * ThingworxStorage

 * ThingworxPlatform

 * Tomcat

There are also some articles which can be reviewed:
  * CS374998 - How to uninstall ThingWorx Foundation Platform

 * CS390494 - ThingWorx not properly uninstalled from Linux OS

Is there a concern which you are trying to address ?

Regards,

Pehowe
