Question

How to Hide a Subpart/Packaging Component of a 3D Model Using the ThingView Widget

I am using ThingWorx Platform Release 9.2 and DatecodeSP11 We are currently using ThingWorx 9.2.11 with ThingWorx Navigate 9.2. We are using the ThingView widget to load and display 3D models within a ThingWorx Mashup. The 3D model we are loading contains the main product/model along with its packaging, where the packaging is included as a subpart/component of the same 3D model. We would like to know whether there is a supported way to hide or make the packaging component invisible in the ThingView widget, while keeping the rest of the 3D model visible.

I am not sure as I cannot test it (without navigate) but you may be able to do it with the Data properties and set the parts you want to hide to transparent color?

https://support.ptc.com/help/thingworx/apps/r9.1/en/index.html#page/thingworx_apps/cv_webGL_extension_book/sample_mashup_bind_data_widget.html#

The example colors the parts red, green, yellow - I would try what happens if you set color to transparent.

I think it was possible somehow but I don’t recall exactly (was some years ago I had used the widget)

Hello @MK_11031954

As mentioned by @nmutter, you may be able to achieve the result you are looking for through the ThingView Widget’s Data and DataFormatter properties (see the Windchill Navigate Help Center). Otherwise, you may need to create multiple view states to toggle between in the Widget to get the desired effect. You may also want to post this question in the Windchill Navigate or Creo Communities for further help.

Best regards, Nathaniel
