Mail extension send message saying Unable to Invoke Service SendMessage on EmailThing: null

After upgrading to thingworx 9.0, my mail extension v3.6.0 stopped working giving me this error when trying to run the SendMessage service.

"Unable to Invoke Service SendMessage on EmailNotificationThing : null"

 

I've tried removing and reinstalling the extension. And creating a new thing from the MailServer template. 

 

Has anyone run into this issue?

The Mail Extension version 4.0.0 compatible with ThingWorx 9.0 is available on the PTC Support Download site.

    I installed it and verified that this fixed the email issue.
